This Is The New Subaru Impreza

Here it is, the next generation of Subaru Impreza. Details are still rather scarce (the full reveal will happen later today), but we do know it’ll be powered by a range of four-cylinder boxer engines, and a five-door hatchback version will be available in addition to the saloon you see here. It’ll be the hatchback that we receive in the UK (although it’s only “under consideration” at the moment), as the saloon won’t be coming to Europe.

This Is The New Subaru Impreza

It’s all underpinned by Subaru’s new Global Platform architecture, which will eventually be used on every car in the company’s range and makes this Impreza 70 per cent stiffer than the old one. The new car is - of course - all-wheel drive, and a hot WRX STI will join the ranks at some stage.

I hope they are going to get rid of the old NA engines and finally put in their 1.6 Turbo.

Also REALLY hope there is a WRX for Europe this time.

I don’t understand why so many people keep begging them to make a hatch of this. It’s going to happen, they showed a concept for the hatch and the Crosstrek (XV)

To be real with you, I expected worse. This actually isn’t too bad. Still would like to see WRX/STi spec versions.

I’m not impressed. But I guess I don’t need to be. It’s a car for every day non car people. In that case, I like it. Looks good. Thats all.
