A New Zealand Woman Was Rescued From A Sinking BMW M3 With Seconds To Spare

Quick-thinking Police officers in Auckland had to smash the rear window of a sinking E46 M3 to rescue the trapped driver

These dramatic images were taken after a 63-year-old woman crashed through the wall of a car park at Waitemata Harbour, Auckland. Police officers PC Paul Watts and PC Simon Russell plus two members of the public rushed to the woman’s aid as the E46 BMW M3 began to sink. The driver was seen clambering onto the parcel shelf to get to an air pocket while the officers desperately tried to get to her.

When finding that the doors wouldn’t open and that a truncheon blow to the window was ineffective, one of the officers used a large rock to break the rear window and rescue the driver. The woman was taken to hospital, but was reportedly uninjured.
