The Next Audi TT Will Be A Four-Door 'Coupe'

The Next Audi TT Will Be A Four-Door 'Coupe'

The idea of a four-door TT has been touted for a long time. Hell, Audi even produced a concept version with a couple of extra entry and exit points, in the form of 2014’s TT Sportback (above).

Four years on, Auto Express is reporting that the four-door ‘coupe’ TT has at last been given the green light. But it won’t be an extra, niche-filling model to sit alongside the real coupe. Nope, the next-generation model - due to arrive within two years - will apparently replace the two-door entirely.

A perfect storm created by falling demand for sports cars and the VW Group’s less than ideal post-Dieselgate financial situation means Audi has been forced to push the TT away from its roots. “If you set falling demand against rising costs, it’s obvious Audi cannot sustain its present course in the medium term,” Auto Express’ insider source said.

The engine line-up will be expanded too, Auto Express believes. The cars in current, recently updated TT range are all powered by 2.0-litre inline-four turbos with different outputs, but the four-door model is set to receive many more options including a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

A slightly larger, more homogenised TT should prove to be both cheaper to produce and more successful on the forecourt, so we get why Audi might do this. But if it comes to pass, it’ll still seem like a shame.

It could end up like the rx8, with suicide rears opened from the inside of the front.

It is not like they already have an a3and a4. They could just make another a2 instead of a TT four-door.

That’s what I’ve been saying ever since the current generations of Audis came to be. They definetly have the styling down and could easily fit something between the A1 and A3.
Mercedes managed to make the A Class into something handsome, Audi could do that with their ugly child.

Let’s be honest. The TT was never really one for the fanatics, bar the Quattro Sport and RS

1950 Mercury Coupe

So they gonna make a 4 door version of a car that’s based on A3, which already has 4 door version (A3 sedan)?

If I understood correctly, you said that Audi are going to make a 4 - door version of a 2 - door version of a car which has both 2 - and 4-door versions. Audi, you make so much sence.

The only thing that is not going to be cash money after this is Audi’s bank account.
