The Next Porsche 911's Shapely Rear Has Been Leaked

An image showing the rear-end of the '992'-generation 911 has appeared online
The Next Porsche 911's Shapely Rear Has Been Leaked

Here it is: the next-generation Porsche 911, partially revealed thanks to the leaked image above. It was posted on Instagram before being removed (but not before spreading its way around the Internet), and no, it doesn’t show a radical departure in the styling department. That’s broadly in line with our expectations, but take a closer look, and the changes are there.

First off, there’s now a full-width active spoiler. We’ve already seen this on the test mules that have been hammering around the Nurburgring, and they give the rear of the ‘992’-generation car a 959-esque look. We’re rather digging it.

The slatted rear deck of the 991.2 (pictured below for comparison) remains, but it’s been reshaped and enlarged. The light clusters don’t taper at the ends quite as much, and underneath, you’ll see that the lower section of the bumper has been restyled and - on this particular 911 at least - has a cool two-tone effect going on.

Finally, sitting below a full-width brake light, here’s the ‘Porsche’ script, which takes on a ‘floating’ style as first seen on the 718 Boxster and Cayman.

There hasn’t been any technical information leaked thus far, but we do know that this will be the first 911 available with a hybrid powertrain. The current range of 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six engines will be carried over, and it had been reported that the final naturally-aspirated models - the GT3 and GT3 RS - will go the same forced-induction route also. Porsche’s motorsport boss has since denied this, so right now it’s hard to tell which way it’s going to go.

For now, what do you think of the new 911’s rear? Comment below with your thoughts.

Who cares about leaks? Does it change the value of the car? Does it change how much you like the car? It’s not that big of a deal.

I REALLY don’t like it. Not at all. It’s so… bulbous and round. Porsche needs to FOR ONCE make the newer 911 SMALLER than the old one. It isn’t a sports car anymore. It’s become a GT car. I’ve had it. First the 718 engine and now THIS. It’s like Porsche is making cars more and more for people who drive them less and less.

So CarThrottle does a post on leaked cars and and how they mostly don’t benefit us and then 2 days later shows the new leaked Porsche.

It’s a very simple rear, but I like it. Although I still like the 991’s rear more.

i dont like that the bum looks streched downwards so that the exhaust placement looks like a ricer rear bumper bodykit.
