Nissan's 370Z To Be Replaced With '400Z' Sports Car With Up To 475bhp
The future of the 370Z has looked bleak for some time. Rumours of it being kinda/sorta replaced with a sporty crossover have been doing the rounds for a few years now, and more recently, it was starting to sound like there wouldn’t be any kind of successor for the current Z-car.
The latest batch of news is more positive, however. According to Autocar, an all-new model to replace the ageing 370Z has been given “the green light,” and yes, it’ll be a proper coupe and not some jacked-up soft-roader.
Power will come from the 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 used in the likes of the Infiniti Q50 and Q60, with an anticipated output similar to the 399bhp state of tune it enjoys in those cars. That’d be for the standard car, which will go on sale in 2020, but there will be a 475bhp, 451lb ft Nismo version with all-wheel drive, due to arrive in 2021. The name hasn’t been decided, although ‘400Z’ is mooted, according to Autocar’s insiders.
We may not have to wait that long to see the car, either. A preview concept should be with us before the end of 2018, while the production car will have its big reveal just over a year later.

O well it’s not an SUV!

YES
I’m sorry but I have to say this: It’s too much power. In countries where the tax and insurance are determined by engine power, those cars will be unbearably expensive. The only RWD sports cars you can have in those countries with a small pocket are the GT86 and MX-5.
It’s sad to see manufacturers producing only sports cars with those high power figures.
you must be from england, the theiving barstewards
In the netherlands its just CO2.
Could be reasonable, totally isnt (86 is 50k…)
Yeah in malaysia,a new gt86 costs 249k
Agreed. The Z is a more power-biased car, sort of like a V6 Mustang, but it’s getting a bit much. I think they should go for three trims - a N/A 3.0 V6 with 300hp, a twin-turbo one with 400hp and then the Nismo.
350Z and 370Z refer to the engine displacement so this one being only a 3.0L should theoretically be called the 300Z (not 300ZX).
either that or make a new version of the VR38 without turbos and call it the 380Z?!
how cool would that be?
I dislike how it no longer follows the naming strategy of the first 2 digits being the engine size. But I am happy that it’s not a sh*tty crossover, but rather another lovely sports car
Hype Hype Hype
It is a going to hunt the supra
Pls no hybrid.
What’s wrong with it being a hybrid?
It had better be a manual… Or else Nissan is gonna get lawsuits from every angle.
