Now You Can Buy An Armoured And Bulletproof Skoda Superb

If that suburban dispute with your neighbours is getting a little out of hand, we've got just the car you need to stay safe

If, for example, you’re in witness protection but you need a family car, we’ve got good news. You can now buy a comprehensively armoured Skoda Superb Estate.

This innocuous silver Superb, a product of a three-year UK-based programme, is bulletproof, bombproof and generally reinforced to the PAS 300 industry standard. Even the glass is bulletproof, or rather ‘bullet-resistant,’ as its makers say.

Fitted with a top-secret type of body armour across the whole body, protecting passengers and the fuel tank as well as just about everything else inside, under the thick skin it’s a Superb 2.0 TDI diesel. The brakes, suspension and tyres get upgrades, while the wheels are ‘modified’ to make sure you can still drive even with flat tyres.

This is vaguely Bond-esque stuff. The extra weight makes the car a bit sluggish in the performance stakes but it also means it should be pretty handy for ramming stuff out of the way, should you need to deploy some, ahem, defensive driving techniques.

Interestingly, the Superb Estate’s key features are unaffected. The 660-litre boot is present and correct alongside five seats and a large colour touch-screen entertainment system.

This one has been fitted with a few police-style gadgets. There’s a panel for controlling flashing blue and red lights, a button to dial 999 for backup, and possibly specialist on-board communications.

Yep, you really can go and order one of these right now. The conversion process takes around four weeks and costs from £118,688. At least that seems to include the price of the car…

Imagine coming home from a long day of work, and you’re stuck in traffic, just activate the sirens and you’ve got the road to yourself letting everyone know that you’re a VIP or just an undercover officer.

Makes so much more sense than bulletproof Rolls-Royces and Maybachs.
If you actually want to be protected, you want a car that will blend in with the traffic

But luxury ones make sense also. A president of a really important country wouldn’t want to ride in anything that isn’t top notch luxuryous.

If it was GTA Online, it would 20 times more than real life.
