Now's Your Chance To Buy Four Rare AMG Black Series Legends In One
AMG Black Series cars are a bit special. To own just one is a sign that petrol runs rich through your veins. Owning four… well, that would give you one hell of a dilemma on a sunny Sunday.
Mecum Auctions in the USA is selling a group of four Black Series cars as one single lot. They’ve all been taken from the Michael Fux (ahem) collection. Sadly, black market kidney prices just aren’t high enough yet to cover the estimated $1,000,000 price.
The petrolheads’ wet dream auction lot starts with an SLS AMG Black Series. As opening gambits go, that’s not bad. Built in 2014 it has covered just 239 miles from new, the poor thing. Its thunderous 6.2-litre V8 launches 622bhp at the rear wheels and fills its surroundings with a frankly ridiculous amount of theatre.
Stiffened for track duty, the SLS AMG Black Series had fully adjustable suspension and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber, not to mention carbon-ceramic disc brakes the size of the London Eye and an interior festooned with grippy Alcantara and red detailing. Red and black, as we all know, is the fastest colour combination…
Next on the list is a 2012 C 63 AMG Black Series. There was always something special about any C 63 AMG with the old 6.2-litre block, but the Black Series, with its mighty wing, lightweight wheels and its purposeful body kit had the look and feel of a champion middleweight boxer. It was hungry, and boy was it a handful.
Not really any more genteel is the third car in the group, a 2009 SL 65 AMG Black Series. The only V12 in this exquisite AMG quartet, it’s also one of only 175 built for the US. This carbon-roofed monster has wheel arches and body panels straight out of hell’s depths. Ominously, the mileage reads 666 from new. If you dared to drive it you had 661bhp and 740lb ft under your quivering right foot and a 198mph top speed that came at you like the end of days.
The five-speed automatic had all the ratios the massive torque supply needed to shred the Dunlop Sport Maxx GT tyres at will. It would also rev-match on downshifts. This is a luxurious cruiser as well as a brute, sort of, thanks to leather upgrades and carbonfibre interior trim. There’s a lap timer, too, because why not.
A CLK 63 Black Series from all the way back in 2008 is the final delicacy on Mecum’s menu. It takes a lot of technical inspiration from the car that was used as an F1 safety car in the late 1990s, so yes, it’s bonkers. Another low-use car, this one has covered a paltry 224 miles before being shut away as an investment piece.
Well stocked with comfort kit, the CLK has sat-nav, a CD changer connected to a Harman/Kardon stereo, aluminium trim, electric leather seats, cruise control and dual-zone climate control, among other trinkets. It’s one of 349 that were sent to the US.
If you want them all, the auction is happening in January at the auctioneers’ Kissimmee sale. Time to look at high-value personal loans…

Hope they are used as intended and don’t end up just sitting in some garage…
not gonna happen…
Sadly, that is highly unlikely.
I hope they do sit in a garage and that they are protected, so that when I’m rich I can buy all of them in their almost near perfect condition and use them myself
