Official: Mazda Will Unleash Its All-New MX-5 In September 2014

Mark it on your calendar: Mazda has confirmed that we’ll get our first look at the new MX-5 on 3rd September this year. It’s expected to get a compliment of Mazda’s naturally aspirated SkyActive petrol engines, from 1.5 up to 2.0-litres.

However, the short teaser video above released by Mazda USA is clearly accompanied by the soundtrack of a turbocharged four-pot. It seems odd that the wrong sound could be dubbed over the top, but on the other hand, a turbo engine in the next MX-5 is a highly unlikely prospect.

Whatever’s under the bonnet, we can’t wait to see this roadster’s new styling. Earlier this year we brought you a render (above) of what the new car could look like. If this is anything to go by, we’ll be at the front of the queue.
