Official Pics Of The Heroic BMW M4 Revealed
Yesterday, the first image of the hot new BMW M4 was leaked online. Tut tut. The grainy, front-end image revealed details of the new car, including its carbonfibre roof, glorious power bulge, massive air ducts and M4 moniker.
Clearly not impressed with the leaked image, BMW quickly released these official images, which give us a proper first look at the M4 from every angle. The concept has also taken its public bow at Pebble Beach (pictured below).
While the pictured M4 is still a concept, the chances of any changes being made before production in 2014 are minimal. We already know the 20-inch alloys are here to stay (check out the width of those tyres), as is the extensive use of carbonfibre, which you'll find on the roof and front and rear splitters. In true M style, you'll find a bassy exhaust quartet out back too.
Engine details remain unconfirmed, but expect to find a 450bhp, turbocharged, 3.0-litre, six-pot under the sculpted hood. Like the M5, this engine will be mated to a seven-speed, dual-clutch 'box.
Looking at the outgoing M3 coupe's stats (4.0-litre V8, 420bhp, 0-62mph: 4.6sec, 155mph top speed, £58k), the M4's power hike and lighter weight (by around 150kg) should drop the 62mph time to around 4.4sec. Top speed will remain limited at 155mph, while the M4's price will likely climb to between £60k and £62k.
This video's not much to go on, but the M4 will sound a little bit like this...
Looks and sounds like it'll be quite a bit of kit, right?
