Oh Look, BMW's Made Another Ugly GT Car. Hello 3-Series GT
This, ladies and gents, is the third BMW 3-Series installment (after the saloon and estate), and it's called the BMW 3-Series GT. It's taller, wider and longer than a 3-Series touring on which it is based, meaning it now offers more rear legroom than a 5-Series saloon, which is handy.
There is a downside to the new model, however; despite BMW calling it 'unique and attractively designed', the 3 GT is far from beautiful, looking only slightly less ugly than than its ill-shapen 5-Series GT bigger brother. Check it out:
Not the prettiest, right? But BMW's been doing cars for a while now (since 1928, in fact) so we know it'll sell as strongly as tickets to the Jersey Boys.
Special features of the GT include a massive 520-litre boot, an active rear spoiler that deploys at 68mph and, what every car really doesn't need, an electric tailgate.
The all-new 3-Series GT is on sale from £28,830 for the entry-level 320i SE GT, with prices for the range-topping 335i Modern starting from £38,470. The latter engine produces a strong 302bhp, which will launch the 335i GT to 62mph in just 5.7sec.
Also available are a 328i SE and 318d SE and, the expected best-selling 320d SE variant. Sportier M Sport models make the GT line-up in the summer.
