Owners Are Suing Tesla Because Their 'Insane' P85Ds Are Too Slow

Owners in Norway are suing Tesla because their P85Ds don't produce as much power as advertised
Owners Are Suing Tesla Because Their 'Insane' P85Ds Are Too Slow

Teslas are known for their ridiculous acceleration thanks to their instant electrical torque, but it seems that some Scandinavian owners are very upset at their car’s lack of pace. 126 angry P85D owners are suing Tesla as its cars seem to only produce 469bhp instead of the quoted 691bhp once in ‘Insane Mode’.

Owners Are Suing Tesla Because Their 'Insane' P85Ds Are Too Slow

Tesla as a company is never far from controversy, with a flurry of Autopilot problems dominating the news recently. It was also discovered that Tesla has misquoted power figures in the past, with the engineers making the mistake of simply adding together the power output from two electric motors to quote a final power figure. Unfortunately that is not how electric motors work, therefore some customers have been left wanting with power outputs well down on the company’s claims.

Despite an initial report by Bloomberg Technology and paperwork that is now in motion to sue the electrical pioneers, Tesla has denied any wrong-doing, stating that the P85Ds sold meet requirements “according to the measurement method required by the authorities”. We’ll keep you updated on this story as it breaks.

They must be really re-volt-ed if they’re taking this issue to court.

If Tesla starts becoming this annoying to its customers I’m going to be ticked off. The Tesla Model S was my favorite car for a couple years.

I used to be a big Tesla fan. I almost preordered the Model 3. I think they’re great cars, and people are right to love them, but everything I’ve read regarding their handling and weight makes me feel that they are a long ways out from ever being able to touch the excitement of a WRX, for example, even if they’re quicker in a straight line.

I’ve driven both current models and they’re not as exciting as a WRX by a country mile. They are lovely as daily cars though. They do handle as well as anything from Germany and they’re comfortable as hell. At least for a commute I wouldn’t mind one.
