The Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta Has More Power Than A Huayra

The Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta Has More Power Than A Huayra

Last week, we spent rather a lot of time ogling Pagani’s sensational new Zonda HP Barchetta. Given a lack of technical details available, ogling was all we could do at the time, but now we know a little more about this roof-less beauty.

Pagani has since confirmed to Top Gear that the breeziest Zonda ever will pack 789bhp, more than the standard Huayra. Sound familiar? The number should do, because it’s identical to the power output of the Huayra BC. With that in mind, the HP could use the same 6.0-litre AMG-sourced twin-turbo V12 as the BC - which also puts out 811lb ft of torque (update: it’s actually looking like the HP has an M120 N/A V12, not the bi-turbo unit).

Top Gear also reports that the HP features double wishbone suspension front and rear with Öhlins adjustable shocks, mirroring the Huayra BC’s setup. We also feel compelled to remind you that in the outlandish blue/white cabin you’ll find an actual gear stick. Yep, the V12 is hooked up to a six-speed manual transmission.

Unlike the last few customer-commissioned Zondas we’ve seen, the Barchetta was built at the request of Horacio Pagani himself. It’s been suggested it’ll be the final version of the Zonda to ever be built, but given how many times the end of Zonda production has be touted before, we’ll be remaining doubtful for now…

Also more MvP is the transmission that can handle THAT amount of torque

I know for a fact that AMGs 6.0L Twin Turbo V12 doesn’t sound like an F1 car. Zonda HP still uses the old M120 NA 7.3L V12 which gives it the F1 ring to it.

Or the 6.0L NA V12 also used in the Zonda R. It’s directly descended from the engine that powered the legendary Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR monster. A much stronger package than the 7.3 which can take a lot more power.

Still doesn’t change the fact that with those wheel covers it looks ugly as hell.

MattRobinson your information is incorrect. The Zonda only uses the M120 7.3L V12. Not the M156 from the Huayra.

But off course, red has been confirmed as the most eye catching colour. though I can assure you people are going to rush to it either way.

I have a theory.
At Pagani, there’s two main departments. One department works on the Zonda, and the other works on the Huayra. The Zonda department secretly hates the guts of the Huayra department, so they try to undermine, and one-up, them whenever they can.
