There can't be many 205 GTIs left these days, and now this one's in a sorry state after its driver appeared to suffer lift-off oversteer - a well known habit of these classic hot hatches

This is not a racing situation.
When there is no race on the Nordschleife (like in the video) the circuit becomes a publicly accessible road with more or less normal traffic-rules - even with speed limits.
So in this case it is a normal german road and therefore you may only overtake on the left.
