This Porsche 911 GT2 Blows A Tyre At Over 200mph On The Autobahn

Punctures can strike at any time, but this Porsche couldn't have picked a worse moment...

Flat tyres are a nuisance at 20mph, but this clip shows just how frightening it can be when a tyre blows at over 10 times that speed. It’s unknown whether the tyre blew from something like a nail or just a lack of proper maintenance, but an unlimited stretch of Autobahn isn’t the best place for something like this to go down!

Chances are to report the blow out, 1st concern should be someone else driving into debris at high speed.

yes because tweeting this moment is more important then pulling over and getting the authorities

Good job Diskloks can’t be punctured. Can’t be used at 200mph though, so there’s that.

What’s amazing is how the stability control deals with it. I’ve been in cars at way lower speeds with a blow out, and one didn’t end well. It ended sideswiping the inside barrier on a motorway.

Yeah but whoever was driving the one that sideswiped into the barrier made a mistake.
Tire blowouts were more common in the past where no ESP existed the first place and tire quality was even worse.
If you keep the right mindset you will be fine:

  1. Don’t break at first, the drag created by a flat tire will slow you down enough.
  2. Let the accelerator off slowly, but in the initial moment that it blows give it a little gas to keep the car straight.
This is the two things the Porsche driver did, had he braked hard the weight transfer would be to much for the ESP to handle.
