This Porsche Flat-12 Engine Rebuild Timelapse Is Mesmerising

Californian firm Canepa has released stunning timelapse footage of a 917 engine rebuild

The flat-12 that powers the legendary 917 racing car is one of the all time Porsche greats. As such, seeing it meticulously stripped down, restored piece by piece then rebuilt is rather enjoyable.

The work was done by Californian firm Canepa, which owns several 917s, and much more besides.

When you consider that they were build by a whole team to be driven FLAT out for 24 hours, building them again to such high standards at such pace with only three men is a FLATtering result.
Ok I stop now.
Because my tyres are FLAT.
No, really.
It is just like nine-eleven jokes they are not even funny.

I wonder if it made it make any more power? These were capable of 1700bhp in qualifying trim I’ve heard!

Seeing this video makes me a little sad. I recently applied for a Project Manager position with Canepa but didn’t get it. It would have been my dream job. Who wouldn’t want to get up every morning and be involved with all their georgeous restorations.
If anyone is better qualified, I found it on LinkedIn.
