Prepare Yourselves: Tesla's Semi Truck Will Be Here On 26 October
It’ll be about a month later than previously thought, but Tesla’s potentially game-changing all-electric truck is just a few weeks away from being revealed.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed on Twitter that the ‘semi truck’ (that’s an articulated lorry, to us Brits) will be revealed on 26 October in Hawthorne, California - the home of Tesla and Space X. Along with the reveal, there’ll also be passenger test rides.
Elon Musk describes the vehicle as a “beast”, and says that it’s “unreal” - because of course he does. According to a report from Reuters last month, initial versions will have a more modest 200 - 300 mile range, but that will climb, to the point where the Tesla semi can compete with the 1000 mile ranges enjoyed by conventional diesel-powered lorries.
The truck is all part of Tesla’s ambitious expansion plans, that include fulfilling the hundreds of thousands of Model 3 orders, and later putting into production the Model Y compact crossover plus an as-yet unnamed pick-up truck.

Does this mean we’ll soon see semi trucks with ludicrous mode out-dragging sports cars?
It’ll be the next big thing on YouTube. Only a matter of time before there’ll be a million ‘Tesla Semi vs Nissan GT-R’ races online
Will it have an Easter egg where it spews Jaffa cakes and cheese and onion crisps from its glovebox?
will there be a performance version of a semi truck with 0 to 60 time of 1 second? please say yes 😇😇
Hehe…..semi. 😅
October 26th of 2017, or October 26th of 2020?
But why, it’s going to be sooooo expensive. More loss will be happen. But it’s cool, so that’s nice
You have to look at lifetime costs. Assuming this isnt outrageously priced, you can factor in fuel and maintenance savings. Also, given that this is Tesla, these trucks could run 24/7 with future autonomous tech.
They should build an hatchback for europe, cheaper than the i3, it would sell crazy
A hatchback with normal looks and convenient size and boot space.
Not just for Europe. Something would sell well in the US as well. Lots of Honda Fit’s and Ford Fiesta’s around now.
I am surprised Elon Musk doesn’t know there is no such thing as a Semi Truck.
Semi truck are actually very real.
?
Why is tesla building hype for something that the general public will not buy?
Logistics companies.
Still, no one will probably use it.
Tesla Model S
Tesla Model 3
Tesla Model X
Tesla Model Y
Probably next up:
Tesla Model E
Tesla Model L
Tesla Model O
Tesla Model N
I see what you did there, Mr Musk…
But Ford forbid Tesla to use the Model E name, that’s why the Model 3 isn’t called Model E but Model 3. I’m guessing if he asked again they would be like “cOuLd wE uSe tHe MoDeL e NaMe NoW, FoRd?
