Proposed Ban On Car Washing: WTF?

Sundays wouldn’t be Sundays if us car owners were banned from washing our motors in the street. A recent campaign, however, is trying to impose just that law…

So what’s the big idea, you ask? According to some n00b called Brian Madderson – he represents independent petrol stations - our Sunday ritual is damaging to the environment.

Apparently, the chemicals we use to clean our cars filters into the sewerage systems, which poisons our water, kills our unborn etc, etc.

But Mr Madderson isn’t finished there. He’s also calling on a ban of so-called ‘pop-up’ hand car washes (like the ones you’ll find in Sainsburys), which do a bloody great job for not a lot of money.

His argument for the cull is that the car wash you’d use in a petrol station features tech to ‘catch dirty water and grease.’

What he’s neglected to mention, however, is the fact that they’re bloody expensive to use and often damaging to a car’s paintwork.

If the proposed ban goes ahead, we wonder what Madderson’s next big idea will be. How about banning people from showering in the morning? Genius.

What do you make of the proposed ban?
