If you have a truck load of money to drop on a Ferrari, you could do a lot worse than throwing £1m at a LaFerrari. But for those that are really rich and want something a little unique, Ferrari has a special one-off programme. Give Maranello a few million quid and you’ll get a Ferrari road car with pretty much any body you like dropped on top, like this: the F12 TRS.

As you’ll have gathered from the name, the latest one-off Ferrari is based on the front-engined F12. This F12 has been given a gorgeous targa conversion, and features two prominent buttresses behind the cabin.

What’s particularly interesting about this one-off Fezza is that the changes go more than skin deep. It’s rumoured to be packing a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), most likely adapted from the same device found on the LaFerrari. That being the case, it’ll give the TRS an extra 161bhp dollop of poke on top of the already rather punchy 740bhp offered up by the V12. Cripes.

The cost for all this? $4.2 million (£2.5m), apparently. Sounds pricey, but it’s probably not the most expensive new Ferrari ever sold. Guitarist Eric Clapton’s Berlinetta Boxer-inspired 458 SP12, another one-off project from Ferrari, reportedly set him back a staggering $5 million (£3m).

More details and images of the TRS are expected to emerge when the car is showcased at this weekend’s Ferrari Cavalcade in Sicily.
