This Rarely Seen Footage Looks Behind The Scenes Of The First Fast And Furious Film

Here's something you might not have seen before - a behind-the-scenes look at the first Fast and Furious film, made when the movie was still under the working title 'Redline'
Remote video URL

While the Reddit thread we spotted this video on today dubs it as ‘unseen’, it has appeared on the Interweb before - the marginally better quality upload above was posted a couple of years ago. Still, it’s not something we’ve seen before, and it provides an intriguing glimpse into the first instalment of what’s become one of the biggest film franchises of all time.

What’s particularly interesting is the film is referred to as ‘Redline’ - a working title eventually ditched in favour of The Fast and the Furious. The Redline title was later picked up for a 2007 box office bomb starring Nathan Phillips (the other bloke from Snakes on a Plane, in case you were wondering).

This and Tokyo Drift were the only decent movies, the only ones that capture the essence of it all (in Hollywood terms, anyways…)

2F2F was okay too. From IV it became less about car culture and more about heists.

The only thing I disliked about Tokyo Drift was the main actor. I don’t think he was a good fit for the character.

I agree. The first and Tokyo Drift focused more of the essence of car culture than all the other movies in the series so far. They would be only FnF movies I would watch (also have on DVD).

Yup. It’s funny because back in the day of when 2f2f was released all the way up to tokyo drift, I hated 2f2f. It was the ugly duckling of the franchise. Then once all the others came out, I ended up liking 2f2f more than the others after Tokyo Drift because it was still about the cars more than the crime. With exception to Tokyo Drift, the entire franchise should have always kept the same director/writers of the first F&F. Every one since Tokyo Drift has been a disappointment to me. It’s not that they aren’t ok movies, it’s just it crushes me every time to see the same cast in such different movies, that resemble nothing like the original formula, which was, cars/racing/lifestyle first and crime last in the scope of things. I’m still longing for that F&F reboot that takes it back to the car culture.

I would like to know as well. There are some similar songs in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 and Need for Speed: Road Challenge (High Stakes in the USA)

Nice to see that Vin Diesel once talked like a normal person, not that sub human ear frequency thing he does in F&F 7

It’s actually a medical condition most action actors are succumbing as of late. It really hit Chritian Bale bad on set of the latest Batman trilogy :(
