Over the Christmas period we've been bringing you some of our readers' quirkier rides, so we thought we'd see 2013 out with a proper performance car.

Daniel worked hard to own this 996 911, and with a little help from his friends he's giving his Porsche a lot of extra impact. Over to Dan to tell us more...

My name is Daniel and I am an owner of a Porsche 911 Millenium C4. I'm 23 years old and I was a big BMW M3 fan all through college, working hard to own one. I eventually sold it to own this 911.

It has a caramel interior, forged one-piece TR Motorsport wheels, full D2 coils and suspension components, and I also made my own straight pipe exhaust with high-flow cats. At the moment the engine is the standard 3.4-litre flat-six producing 300bhp, however I've opened her up over the winter to add some more power!

After graduating school, there was a company close by that hired me. This company 'braids' composite materials such as carbonfibre and kevlar. We have done many cool projects, such as on the

787 aeroplane and working with some supercar manufacturers.

My new commute to work made me drive by a shop with this 911 parked out front everyday. I passed it for a month thinking the owner of the car was an idiot for selling it, and I eventually sneaked out during a lunch break to see the car and gave the guy a call.

Weeks later I finally got a call back - he was selling because he was diagnosed with MS and could no longer drive the car. I picked it up a week later, with coilovers in my garage before the car even came home!

Several friends and I ripped out every suspension part from coils to sways and endlinks. We also upgraded the car to GT3 rotors and Hawk pads. At this point I knew the wheels had to go, as they made the car look a bit dated! Then I fabricated my own straight pipe and intake in the machine shop at our work.

Over the winter I'll be adding a bunch of power goodies, a GT3 RS front bumper, sides and rear spoiler to really finish it off.

This isn't the first car I've worked on, either. My brother and I were among the first people to swap 2JZ-GTE VVTi Aristo motors into an IS300, as seen in the video below.
