Readers' Rides: Jamie's Stunning BMW E92 M3
If you've been keeping up to date with CT, the chances are high that you guys know we're hiring. The response to the two positions on offer has been incredible and incredibly humbling. Thank you!
Yesterday, we received an email from CT reader Jamie, telling us that he'd love to get involved with CT in any way possible. So, we had a quick think in the office, re-read his inspirational email and thought: 'What the heck, let's start a new series where we feature readers and their awesome rides!' Here's an excerpt from Jamie's email:
Cars are what I live for. My family thinks I'm mad, but they just don't understand that cars are so much more than just a mode of transport. I recently graduated from Uni and got my job as a doctor at the local hospital. The pay isn't as great as people think to start off with, but I still decided to treat myself by financing an E92 M3. As a student, I worked 80 hours a week all summer and didn't spend a penny of it, so I could buy my Civic Type R FN2 at 18, my MkV R32 at 19 and my M3 at 22.
It's exactly this type of enthusiasm, dedication and can-do attitude that makes a car lover like Jamie a true petrolhead. So, to kick things off in style, here's our very first 'Readers' Rides' write-up featuring a rather lovely E92 M3. (All words are his own):
Current car - BMW E92 M3
I finished my penultimate exam and decided to test drive a few cars to give me the motivation to work hard and pass my final exam.
With the exam nailed, I went straight to the local BMW garage at home and fell in love with this M3. I didn't think I could afford it (and to be honest I actually can't afford it), but I make it work and I've never looked back. It is my 'supercar' and I'm only just 23. I smile everytime I see it out of the window and I can't explain the feeling I get when I'm driving it.
As I drove it back from the dealership I put it in M mode for the first time and floored it. After about two seconds of stunned silence I think I swore an awful lot and didn't stop grinning and laughing to myself the whole way home. I've since played with the exhaust, added some splitters and black kidney grilles and just kept it sparkling. It makes the past five years and the current long hours I do so, so worth it.
I wanted to become a doctor for so many reasons, but I'd be lying if I said one of them wasn't the promise of a steady income that would allow me to drive a mental car. It's not the wisest way to live, but I would rather spend all my money on a car and not afford a house. After all, you can sleep in a lamborghini, you can't drive a house.
Next car? Give me a few years and I'll hopefully be in some kind of Lambo. An Aventador is a distant dream of mine, but to be honest, most of my car dreams have come true so far!
Previous car #6 - VW Golf GTD
In my final year of uni, I got a decent grant and arranged to spend my placement at a hospital with free accommodation. Obviously this meant a new car, so I got this on finance. I wanted a Golf R, but my grant wouldn't cover the payments, so a diesel seemed the safe option.
Previous car #5 - Audi A3 TDI
I was travelling more with uni and couldn't afford to keep the R32, so I sold it to free up a bit of money and bought this. I had nothing but trouble with it and I never really liked the colour, but it had a good spec and was cheap to buy!
Previous car #4 - VW Golf R32
My Aunty actually passed away and left me a bit of money, so I sold my Civic, worked another summer and put it all towards buying this. Still my favorite car!
Previous car #3 - Civic Type R
After a long summer, I managed to sell the Golf for a profit and put my earnings towards this. It's the closest thing to rice I've owned, but it was a fantastic car.
Previous car #2 - VW Golf TDI
By the time I sold the Golf (only after a year or so of ownership) I'd changed a few things to get it looking like it does here. I've always changed things on my cars, I just can't help it!
Previous car #1 - Vauxhall Corsa
I had two jobs from the age of 15 to make sure I could buy my first car. This little Corsa was it; we've all got to start somewhere, right?
