Readers' Rides: Pontus' Time-Warped V6 Volvo 265 Wagon
If there's one load-lugger we all agree oozes cool, it's this one. The Volvo 200-Series wagon is indestructibly tough, wonderfully retro and has become an icon with us petrolheads. So when CT reader Pontus from Sweden asked if we'd like to feature his new ride, we literally bit his hand off and are yet to give it back. Below, are some snaps and words from one very cool car nut:
Hello everyone! My name is Pontus, and I am from Sweden. I bought this Volvo 265dl as my first car. It had been standing in a barn for 14 years. I took it home on a trailer, and with some gas and a new battery it started with no problem.
With only 57 of these cars in existence, it's a pretty odd car, even here in Sweden. And I hope you agree that it's in pretty good shape too.
I bought it very recently for 3000kr (£288.20). Why did I buy it? I always wanted an estate, and when this one popped up on the market, I just had to have it.
I'm not planning to do much to it, although a 2JZ swap would be fun, a bit like this one...
But I love my standard 265 enough because it's so unique; it's the 100hp V6-engined version, which is very rare, after all.
Next week, I hope my Volvo will be road legal when I've fixed a new seatbelt to the passenger side, which is the only reason why it isn't road legal. Then, it'll be me and my Volvo against the Swedish winter. I think I'll be fine!
If you think we should feature your car on Readers' Rides, email alex.kersten@carthrottle.com with a pic and a few words explaining why you love it so much. If we like it, we'll feature it!
