This Rear-Drive V8-Powered Impreza Wagon Is The World's Unlikeliest Hoon Hero
Think 'Subaru' and you probably think of classic blue-and-gold rally cars. Boxer engines. Turbo chargers. Four-wheel drive. Ditching all those classic Scooby trademarks would surely be madness and sacrilege gone mad, right? Wrong.
This is the Forman Performance Subaru Drift Wagon. It's undergone one of the world's best engine swaps: trading up to a tuned GM LS1 V8 developing 500bhp - at the rear wheels. And yes, the rears only, because this Scooby is built for drifting, not gripping. As you can see and hear, it's rather good at it.
Like the 2000bhp Corvette we showed you last week, this is a tuning special designed as a show-off project by a regular tuning firm. Forman Performance is a Southern California-based outfit that specialises in modding Subarus.
Now we want to see what they can do with that other Scooby that abandons turbos and AWD for all-out-fun... make some more tuned BRZs!
