Details of Mountune's Focus RS mods have at last been revealed, and we're looking at a warranty-friendly boost to 370bhp

We already knew that the ladies and gents at Mountune were cooking up some Focus RS upgrades, but not the power increases nor the cost. Until now, that is.

The company has revealed that its Phase I kit - consisting of a new high-flow air filter, a smattering of new hoses, an upgraded blow-off valve and a flashed ECU - is good for a 25bhp boost. That brings the total power from the RS’s 2.3-litre turbo four-cylinder to 375bhp, and drops the 0-62mph time from 4.7 to 4.5 seconds. Oh, and torque is up by 29lb ft too.

It costs just £899, takes only an hour and a half to fit, and as it’s a Ford-approved upgrade it won’t harm your warranty. According to reports, it should eventually be available Stateside too.

I learned recently that Mountune is right next to where my business in the UK was housed.

If you want to make a Ford to go faster properly… actually, they should stamp the boxes:

“Made In Essex.”

Again: as if 350bhp in a hatchback wasn’t already bonkers enough. Mind you, I bet the A45 AMG is currently coughing awkwardly nearby.

Actual wheel horse power is still crap and low.
GM did better with the Cobalt SS Turbo with their GMS1 upgrade took the car from 260 hp 260tq [crank] 245 whp and 260wheel tq. to 290hp 340tq [crank] 280whp and 320 wheel torque. From just a tune. That’s a gain of 35 wheel HP and 60 torque! I don’t know the crank numbers and this is from an engine made in 2007! I don’t find anything fancy or “out of this world” with any new cars.

Even with bolt ons you can see 320hp-340hp and 370-390tq with just boltons on 91! That’s not e47 or e85.

I personally made 341hp [still climbing dyno stopped at 5500 I rev to 7k] and 424 Wheel torque just with an intake, catless downpipe, 3 bar map sensors and a tune for E85. Stock intercooler That’s it! Cheap and easy horsepower for much less than everyone else!

No engine is better than the LNF for a 4 cylinder in my opinion.
