Renault Is Fighting To Get Its Nurburgring Record Back From Seat

Just two months ago, the mighty Seat Leon Cupra smashed the Nurburgring record for a front-wheel drive production car. Its time of 7min 58.4sec eclipsed the Renaultsport Megane 265 Trophy's long-standing 8min 7.97sec record by almost 10 seconds.
This is the car that's been the thorn in Renault's side for the last two monthsIt seems that the French car maker is poised to get the record back, however, with a new and improved version of the 265hp Megane RS. As you can see in the top teaser image, the new car features an Akraprovic performance exhaust, which should help release a few extra horses from the highly-strung 2.0-litre.
Additional changes to the car could include improved suspension and a more stripped-out interior which will keep weight down to a minimum and help the car to duck under the magic eight-minute marker.
The record attempt will take place on June 16.
