Report Claims Amazon Won't Sign The Grand Tour For A Fourth Series

A tabloid report claims that Amazon doesn't intend to sign a fourth series of TGT, which could spell the end for the show

With the most recent episodes of Top Gear and The Grand Tour being generally very good, we’ve all been enjoying having two top-drawer car shows to enjoy. But could that be about to change?

A new report suggests that Amazon Prime won’t sign the latter show beyond series three. That report is in…Mail Online, meaning it should be taken with a pinch of salt. But it’s certainly an interesting claim, and worth keeping an eye on to see how it might develop.

“There is nothing to suggest they are going to do another one. No one has signed anything and employees are wondering where everyone will go once filming wraps,” the Mail’s insider source claimed.

If true, it wouldn’t necessarily mean the show would be over - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May reportedly had multiple suitors following their BBC departure, after all. On the other hand, Grand Tour is notoriously expensive to make - shortly after the ex-Top Gear presenters signed their three-series deal with Amazon, Netflix’s Chief Product Officer claimed that based on the firm’s data, the trio were not worth the money they were demanding.

Host Jeremy Clarkson meanwhile has a new job on a re-jigged version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, and on Twitter a few days ago, he denied that this meant TGT was over. Producer Andy Wilman told the Mail Online: “We are focusing on series three at the moment.”

A spokesperson for The Grand Tour has since told The Mirror: “The team have only just finished series two and have not begun filming series three yet - so it’s too soon for any decisions to have been made.” Responding to someone on Twitter about the original article, Clarkson replied: “Hilarious you believe Mail Online.”

James May should make his own show called InfoMotive, and then hire Clarkson and Hammond to have them bash him about how boring he is, and then they could go on to take over the show, but keep May and turn it into the next gen Top Gear
