Ricciardo Won't Get His Australian Podium Back After The FIA Slapped A Rejection On His Appeal

Red Bull Racing's appeal against Daniel Ricciardo's exclusion from the Australian Grand Prix has officially been rejected, following a hearing of the International Court of Appeal on Monday in Paris.

Ricciardo originally finished the 2014 season opener in second place but was later disqualified after stewards found that his car had consistently exceeded the 100kg/h fuel flow rate limit.

Red Bull appealed the decision immediately and strenuously denied any wrongdoing, despite being warned several times during the race that they were in breach of the regulations by using their own equipment to measure the fuel flow rate. The team claimed the FIA's sensors were faulty and unreliable.

However, it proved to be unsuccessful with the court upholding the decision of the stewards. A full verdict will be published later in the week. In a statement, the FIA said:

"The court, after having heard the parties and examined their submissions, decided to uphold the decision number 56 of the stewards by which they decided to exclude Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s car number 3 from the results of the 2014 Australian Grand Prix."

Red Bull released the following statement:

"Infiniti Red Bull Racing accepts the ruling of the International Court of Appeal today. We are of course disappointed by the outcome and would not have appealed if we didn’t think we had a very strong case. We always believed we adhered to the technical regulations throughout the 2014 Australian Grand Prix."
