Romain Grosjean Is Staying Put At The Lotus F1 Team For 2015

The Lotus F1 Team has announced that Romain Grosjean will remain at the Enstone-based outfit for the 2015 season. It isn’t particularly surprising news, with fewer and fewer seats being available for next year and the fact that Grosjean posted the news twice - first on Twitter and then Facebook - last week before swiftly deleting it. Oops.

Grosjean joined the team when it was known as Renault in 2009 as a test driver, before a mid-season race seat promotion after Nelson Piquet Jr was dropped.

After a fairly dismal few races, he was dropped and returned to racing in feeder championships, winning Auto GP and GP2 titles. The Frenchman then returned to F1 with the team, racing under the Lotus banner, in 2012.

It was a scruffy year, which included causing the huge first corner crash at the Belgian Grand Prix that resulted in him being handed a one-race ban. However, he got his act together and impressed in 2013, scoring six podiums.

2014 has been a tough year for Lotus, with the Renault-powered E22 being unreliable and tricky to master. However, the future is looking brighter, with a switch to Mercedes power-units for 2015.

Grosjean will remain at the team alongside current team-mate Pastor Maldonado.
