Say Hello To The Porsche 911 GTS British Legends Editions
Porsche has just revealed a trio of very special GTS 911s. Co-created between Porsche GB and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, they celebrate the Le Mans victories of British works drivers Richard Attwood (1970), Derek Bell (1982) and Nick Tandy (2015).
Hence, they’re the British Legends Editions. Or to give the range the full title, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS British Legends Editions. Stuttgart does like rather lengthy car names, doesn’t it?
Each one is coloured and stickered up in a way that provides a nod to the winning cars - the 917, 956 and 919. The Attwood car is Guards Red with white stripes, the Bell 911 is Saphire Blue Metalic with Rothmans style white, gold and red decals, and finally the Tandy GTS is Carrera White with contrasting black stripes.
The cars were specced after discussions with the three drivers about what features were important to them, which means a manual gearbox is available (obviously), the interiors are festooned in Alcantara, and LED headlights are fitted as standard (because Le Mans = lots of light driving).
Each also has Porsche Active Suspension management as standard, as well as the Sport Chrono Package - which includes dynamic engine mounts - and rear-axle steering.
All of those chassis/performance options are available on a standard Carrera 4 GTS, so when we were given a drive of the car under embargo last week, we didn’t really learn anything new.
That said, the Nick Tandy homage car we drove did feel nicely special, with all that Alcantara and the various bits of badging that have been added. Plus, the drive at Porsche’s Silverstone Experience centre was a reminder that 911s are almost irritatingly good to drive these day.
As a result of the high specifications of the cars, they’re not exactly cheap: you’re looking at £123,210 for the Bell and Tandy cars, and £122,376 for the Attwood homage.
The cars are on sale now, with first deliveries taking place from December this year.

Why do porsches go from angry to happy to angry faces every time? Can’t they choose one expression and keep ?
“British Legends”
I know that it’s because they got to win the 24h of Le Mans in Porsche race cars, but I think that there’s a lot more legendary in British motorsport history. Moss, Surtees, Stewart, Hill, Clark, are, IMO, a lot more legendary and significant to British motorsport history.
That’s like a Spitfire painted with the German Flag on it….
The British Le Mans legend is called Aston Martin. Porsche .. go and play in your own garden!
