Say Hello To The Production Version Of The Honda E
What you’re looking at here is a car you technically haven’t seen before. It’s the production version of the Honda E, and there’s a good reason it looks so damn familiar - the EV has barely changed compared to the prototype version wheeled out at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
It still looks adorable, it still has cameras instead of mirrors, and it still has a cabin dominated by massive touchscreens. The only changes are to the badge on the grille, which is no longer illuminated, and the ‘Honda Design’ script on the rear doors, which has vanished.
Propulsion comes from a single electric motor at the rear axle (yep, it’s rear-wheel drive) and a 35.5kWh battery pack. Buyers will be able to choose from two power levels - 134bhp and 152bhp - although whichever you go for, the torque output will be 232lb ft. 0-62mph will arrive in roughly eight seconds.
The Honda E has a range of up to 136 miles, although that’s according to Honda’s internal data rather than the new WLTP regime. When you need to recharge, it’ll be possible to juice the battery to 80 per cent in around 30 minutes.
The interior design is a huge departure from what we’ve come to expect of Honda cabins. Behind the wheel of the E, drivers will be presented with five screens creating one massive wraparound display.
Along with a digital instrument cluster, two 12.3-inch LCD touchscreens form the infotainment system, joined by two six-inch displays providing a feed from the camera mirrors. Before you panic, there are still tactile controls for climate functions.
Honda hasn’t revealed pricing yet, but we know the E isn’t going to be cheap - the expectation is for it to weigh in around £30,000.
The production version of the car will make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGA
That reminds me of a scary video I saw…:(
I’ll be honest, I think it’s really cool for a company to make a very futuristic looking concept car, and chance very little to turn it into a production car. On the other hand, more companies are (probably) going to do that now, and not all futuristic cars are going to look as cool and funky as this.
The first electric car that interests me, especially because of the Design and the smallness
Even the production model is captivating. The concept was awesome and this really carried it over well.
Well done Honda
It’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen
You can say that again…
Someone forgot about Miatas.
Oooooo, I wonder just how soon we will be getting it, my company car goes back in November & we are actually doing a bonus scheme for low emissions vehicles. Never been attracted to an EV before, but something about this I just love.
Man I’m getting old, was having similar thoughts towards a 1.5L diesel Peugeot 508 earlier on in the week (since you can’t get any of the nice engines with a manual).
Still looks like a depressed panda
Hello Honda E
