Simona de Silvestro got her first taste of driving a Formula 1 car in a test for Sauber on Saturday
On Saturday, former IndyCar driver Simona de Silvestro drove a Formula 1 car for the first time. She took to Ferrari's Fiorano test track in Italy at the wheel of a 2012 Sauber, which was repainted in the colours of her sponsors.
She joined the Swiss outfit at the start of 2014 as an affiliated driver. The plan is for the 25-year-old to drive the team's 2014 car later in the season, so she can gain the mandatory FIA superlicense.
