Are you the sort of person who reels in horror every time a new car name is announced? If so there’s good news, because Seat is asking for public suggestions for the name of its first large SUV.
Blame the Nissan Qashqai for starting the silly season for model names back in 2007, and since then we’ve had all sorts of fun and games with spelling and pronunciation, courtesy of the likes of the Renault Kadjar, the Kia Pro_cee’d and the new Skoda Karoq, which makes you sound like you’re speaking Klingon.

Seat’s own Ateca small SUV is relatively inoffensive in the name department, by comparison, and presumably the Spanish firm is looking for something similar. The one proviso is that it has to come from Spanish geography. Suggestions for names are being invited on Twitter using the hashtag #SEATseekingName (caps optional).
After a while and a bit of market research, Seat will respond with a shortlist of three potential names for the car, which will share most of its greasy bits with the Skoda Kodiaq (Skodiaq?). Then the good people of social media will get to vote for their favourite. The winner will be announced in October.

Among our favourites so far are Pantalones (trousers), Malcocinado (undercooked) and Llabia (err, well, yes).
Get suggesting, and play nice(ish). There’s one small note we need to make, though. The first person to offer SEATy McSEATface is in line for a permanent ban.*
*Not really.
