Seb Vettel Proves He's Half Man, Half Machine By Winning US GP

Half man, half machine Sebastian Vettel has taken his 12th race victory of the 2013 season and his eighth win in a row at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, breaking a new world record for the most consecutive wins in one season.

The German took pole position and had a clean start into turn one. He was unchallenged to the chequered flag after another dominant race despite tyre concerns late in the race.

He finished 6.2 seconds clear of Romain Grosjean. The Frenchman had a storming start to move ahead of Mark Webber and drove a calm and mature race despite pressure from the second Red Bull late in the race. The Aussie finished his final F1 race in the USA in third.

Lewis Hamilton moved into third place on the first lap but dropped behind Webber on lap 16. However, he was happy with a trouble-free run to fourth place. Fernando Alonso finished in fifth place and came under pressure from Nico Hulkenberg in the closing stages. However, the German driver couldn't find his way past and had to settle for sixth.

Sergio Perez finished in seventh place and Valtteri Bottas scored the first top 10 finish of his Formula 1 career. Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button rounded out the top 10.

Adrian Sutil was the only retirement from the 56-lap race after being eliminated on lap one. He touched wheels with Pastor Maldonado on the back straight and span across the track and into the barrier.

The sport now heads to Brazil and the Interlagos circuit for the final round of the season. Vettel will be looking to match Michael Schumacher's record, set in 2004, for the most race wins in one season - 13 - and there are still plenty of positions in the drivers' and constructors' standings to be decided.
