Shocking GT86 Sales Mean We Should Say Sayonara To A Hot Version
The Toyota GT86 has failed to hit sales targets in all major markets, making the case for a faster version hard to justify, according to Gerald Killman, Vice President for European R&D at Toyota.
Talking to Auto Express, Killman said that the car's poor performance was creating doubts about whether a faster version would make business sense.
Toyota is unsure about what is causing the slow sales, since the car has received positive reviews. We'd be willing to bet the main issue is the sports car's relatively low 200bhp horsepower figure, which simply doesn't cut it with many petrolheads. As we know from experience, however, power does not maketh this car.
The simple solution? Take the initial hit, make us a hot version, then sit back and watch the cash flow in like a well-executed GT86 drift. It's what we, your buyer, really wants.
