Should You Always Press The Handbrake Button?

In Canada, you can fail your driving test if you use the button, as the instructors will specifically listen for the clicking of the handbrake. It sucks cause I’m part of the “Use the button group”.

In Germany they teach you to not press the button as well but why in hell would you fail a driving test for not doing it ??

The only people that I ever heard talking about holding the button in while pulling the hand brake are the car throttle redaction.
Challenge: find any car of any age were the ratcheting mechanism is so worn out that you can’t use it anymore.

Exactly, it’s so effing stupid, the noise is trivial. There is little wear, hell, I had a company expepition this winter, that had a basketball sized ice chunk around the ebrake cable, didn’t even engage it, didn’t stretch it, didn’t hinder the suv.

The real reason you shouldn’t do it is because it’s really annoying.

The fact that it doesn’t cause a lot of wear doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea to press it anyway though

So in other words, if you’re making a hand motion that would wear it out…. you’ve probably grabbed the wrong stick :P
