The Skoda CitiJet Is Another Weird Open-Top VAG Concept We'd Happily Do Without

You know how it is, you wait ages for a weird and dubious open-top concept, and then two turn up. Hot on the heels of the unfortunately named Seat Ibiza Cupster , is this, the Skoda CitiJet. Like the Seat, it'll be making its debut at next weekend's Wörthersee VW show, and has the roof and rear seats removed. It's been created over six months by sixteen Skoda apprentices under the guidance of the Czech company's head designer, Jozef Kaban.

If this were a production car, it's probably not the sort of thing we'd really want to be seen in. But unfortunately there'd be plenty of time for people to see you, as despite the sporty blue/white colour scheme, twin exit exhaust and rear spoiler, it's not that quick. Under the bonnet there's a 1.0-litre MPi engine, outputting a modest 74bhp. The inside has also received a makeover, which includes a 300-watt sound system with music-reactive LED lighting.

As with the Cupster, it's highly unlikely that this will go into production, not that we'll be shedding any tears. Neither of these quirky machines can hold a torch to the Wörthersee concept we've really been lusting after, the 518bhp Audi A3 Clubsport.
