South Korea Can't Have The Corvette Stingray Because It's Just Too Damn Loud
If you’re in South Korea and have been excited at the prospect of snapping up your very own C7 Corvette (yes, we realise this is a small group of people), we have some bad news for you. It turns out the Stingray is just too damn loud for your country’s authorities.
During a recent press event for Chevrolet Korea, GM Authority reports that journalists pestered top brass about when local customers could get their mitts on all 450bhp of that ‘Murican V8 goodness. Chevrolet Korea CEO Sergio Rocha said: “The launch of the seventh-generation Corvette is being delayed indefinitely due to Korea’s regulation on automobile noise.” Sad times.
The likelihood of Chevy spending time and resources on politely persuading the lawmakers to go easy on them is unlikely, however, as it was also revealed that just 12 Corvettes are imported into Korea each year. Looks like a niche market just got nicher.
