Spinning At Eau Rouge Is One Of The Most Buttock-Clenching Things In Motorsport

As a racing driver, losing control of your car through the terrifyingly fast Eau Rouge/Raidillon complex at Spa-Francorchamps must be pretty damn scary. New overalls for Renault Sport Trophy racer Markus Palttala please after this moment!

Palttala’s team had this brilliant response to the onboard video too:

It wouldn’t surprise us if that was the case!

This wasn’t the only scary Renault Sport Trophy moment of the day. In the race later on, Diederik Sijthoff and Andrés Mendez tangled up at the start and crashed heavily.

It appears, after earlier contact, Sijthoff’s steering broke and caused him to go straight on and into the wall, collecting Mendez.

They were both taken to hospital afterwards, reporting back pain. Mendez was released a few hours later but Sijthoff has to go through further tests.
