The Stingray's Ingenious New Dash Cam Gives You Race Car Data For Ultimate Bragging Rights

Corvette Performance Data Recorder is yet another sign that the venerable muscle car has been given a modern makeover

It's already pretty clear that Chevrolet has been trying its best to drag the decidedly old-school Corvette into the 21st century with the C7 Stingray - your favourite car of 2013. Now, there's even more proof that the 'Vette has being given a thoroughly modern makeover, with the unveiling of the Corvette Performance Data Recorder seen in these two videos.

The system has been developed with the help of Cosworth. It uses a windscreen-mounted high-def camera and a highly accurate GPS tracker, allowing 'Vette owners to record their drives to an SD card stored in the glovebox. They'll be able to playback and analyse the drive on either the Corvette's own eight-inch dashboard display, or load them onto a computer.

From there, owners will be able to share the footage with other 'Vette drivers and geek out in even more analytic detail. The system will be an optional extra on the 2015MY Corvette, though there's no word on price just yet.
