The Stratos that could've been~

Have you ever seen one? Hah, I don’t think so, you have a one in 1.2 BILLION chance of seeing one in the wild. Yes, if your good at math you have now realized that there is only one new Stratos ever made.

Humble beginings

The Stratos that could've been~

The creators of this car, Chris Hrabalek (Gosh, his name is harder to pronounce than a Pagani huayra inside of koenigsegg!) and Michael Stoschek, both had an extreme love for the Stratos. They had both met at a stratos convention (Yup, there’s a convention for one car) but that’s not where their friendship came from, partly because Hrabalek was nine. Later they had met in an odd turn of events and keep in touch where Hrabalek would keep sending drawings, references, and concepts of a new stratos design.

Going to production?

The Stratos that could've been~

The car. The new Stratos was first unveiled as a concept in 2005 (I was three) at the Geneva auto show. The crowd was glorified and the creators knew that they needed to make this car to please the car hungry crowd. They took a 430 Scuderia to Pininfarina and, over the course of three years, chopped it and made it to what you see today. The car was shortened, in every possible manner but still kept it’s amazing engine.

Why is this not in production?

The Stratos that could've been~

You’re probably thinking, “Hey FLixy, why isn’t this in production?” Simple answer. Ferrari said no. Complicated answer, it would cost too much to produce and would take to long to produce . Oh and the price, it’d be well over a million dollars so they only made one… Oh and to make you feel oh so much better, it’s most likely sitting in a garage gathering dust….

Why would that car cost over a million? It doesn’t need to be faster than Lamborghinis.

Flixy said that they took an F430 and chopped it until it reached its final shape, doing that to a car alone would cost a lot of time and money, imagine making it go into production, so the only way for ferrari to cut its losses would be to make it that expensive I assume

We have one of the first concepts displayed here in Berlin almost since the introduction of the new Stratos.
