This Street Drifter Drove Off After Wiping Out A Spectator

A street drifting session on a canyon road near Los Angeles ended in disaster when a spectator was struck by a car

While this video is particularly shocking to watch, it’s not really surprising. Having amateur drivers drifting a challenging public road lined with completely unprotected spectators is simply asking for trouble, and sure enough, such an event organised by ‘PaisaDrift’ in Turnbull Canyon ended in disaster on Sunday when a spectator was struck.

The driver apparently fled the scene, while the spectator is thought to have been taken to hospital. His condition remains unknown.

Determined to put a stop to PaisaDrift’s activities, FormulaDerp - which posted the crash video - commented: “We want our Motorsport back. This will skew the public eye of state-side drifting forever. Myself and the thousands that follow this page will make sure your faces are known and your cars are recognized.”

It’s easy to understand the frustration. There’s a time and a place for drifting, and this is clearly neither.
