The Subaru WRX Concept Makes Us Go Weak At The Knees

This is the next Subaru WRX STI. Probably. Maybe. Please?

Pictured (ok, "leaked") here ahead of its New York Motor Show debut, is the Subaru "WRX Concept". It's all kinds of awesome. Subarus aren’t known for being particularly attractive, to put it mildly, but it looks as though this motor might just be the exception to the rule.

There may be more than a hint of Jag about the WRX’s nose, with a bit of Audi and BMW thrown in for good measure, but the cavernous bonnet scoop is all Subaru. The slim mirrors and concept spec’ headlights in all likelihood won’t make production, however if the final product looks even half as good as this, we’re completely sold.

‘Round back, a complex diffuser envelopes the quad tailpipes. In profile the WRX’s hulking shoulders, trick alloys and massive brakes are easily visible. There’s been no word on power yet, but online reports point toward a 300bhp, 2.0-litre turbo-four. We’ll have more info’ when the WRX makes its debut later today.

Given Subaru has stopped selling both the WRX STI and the Impreza in the UK, we can only hope the carmaker will see the error of its ways sooner rather than later.

Please Subaru, let us have it. We’ll be good, we swear.
