The Surprisingly Dark Cars 3 Trailer Is Here
Whether you were a kid when it came out or - like me - not quite a kid anymore, I’m sure most of us petrolheads dig Cars. A Disney film featuring anthropomorphised automobiles had the potential to be awful, but it summed up what we love about those tin boxes on wheels very successfully.
Cars 2 on the other hand was a stinker, leaving behind the original’s motorsport storyline for some weird crap about spies. But Cars 3? If you check out the surprisingly dark teaser trailer above, it looks like a whole different ball game. It even looks to be tackling the rise of electric vehicles.
The blurb on the video upload gives us further reason to hope this will bring the series closer to the first film:
Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

Yeahyeahyeah it’s gritty and dark and all but do we seriously need a third stinker made purely to sell toys? From the short text it is clear: Another story about the importance of friendship. Great. Like that wasn’t overused to crap by the series anyway.
Do us all a favor and make this end this series. The spinoffs were bad enough.
