A Sweary Whatsapp Conversation Has Sparked A Huge Scandal In Brazilian Stock Cars

We imagine it’s pretty rare for series commissioners of motorsport championships to have a Whatsapp conversation, let alone one containing controversial details that are later released by the press.

This is exactly what’s happened in the Brazilian V8 Stock Car series, and it has kicked off a huge scandal prior to the first round of the 2016 season, after a newspaper released a chat between two commissioners that had a rather surprising topic.

On Monday the Folha de S. Paulo paper revealed a discussion between two commissioners of the CBA (Brazilian Confederation of Motorsport) joking about giving out penalties to drivers in the championship last year.

Caca Bueno is the focus of the conversation. The five-time series champion labelled the CBA a “bunch of imbeciles” over team radio after taking a victory in Ribeirao Preto during the 2015 season and was later punished. He had to do another lap during the race after the chequered flag was not shown for him and as the lead two drivers circulated, track vehicles entered the track, sparking the radio message. He was suspended for two races.

Here’s how some of the conversation played out, according to Motorsport.com. Assistant commissioner Paulo Ygor Dias wrote on Whatsapp:

“Let’s disqualify him (Bueno) for something in the next race (after Ribeirao Preto). I wanna see him p****d off… (laughs). This sucker was talking s**t for a long time. We have to f**k him and Thiago Camilo (another driver). They are the most boring guys.”

Another commissioner, Clovis Matsumoto, replied:

“Well, on my time Caca was three times runner-up because I was not in the mood of letting him be the champion! (laughs).”

Ygor then added:

“I remember the time of Matsu, and also it’s not too long that he wasn’t the champion after some points that we took from him…”

The CBA has suspended the two commissioners and is investigating. Bueno, the subject of the conversation, was furious and said he was not surprised, but “felt robbed”.

The commissioners defended themselves by saying it was only a joke and regulations prevent them from “inventing punishments”. The scandal has completely overshadowed preparations for this weekend’s season opener at the Autódromo Internacional de Curitiba.

Still not as scandalous as football or football, though.

It’s really sad to know that the racing sports at my home country are every day more and more put at the hand of this people. This Stock Car is one of the biggest racing series here, the only one at TV, but you just can race there if you know the right people or have the money.
You can have sure that will be no other like Senna, Emerson Fittipaldi or Nelson Piquet so soon, Felipe Massa said him self that. We don’t have the support or the structure to that, even having the money. To be a sucefull racing driver here you need to go to Europe or USA.

Since these guys took the Brazilian motorsport, only see scandals… It’s a shame…

Here, to race on a trackday, you need to pay a lot of money and these guys want to demand you a license for a fun day on track…
