Taken 2: The Ultimate Car Chase
Liam Neeson is a bloody hero. In the last Taken film, we saw him knock heads together, torture bad guys and save his incredibly annoying daughter from a life mostly spent underneath fat people. Then, there's THE speech:
"I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now that will be the end of it. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you..." Mmmm, just dreamy isn't he?
Anyway, to car chases now. And this time around it looks like we're in for another high-adrenaline treat. In the official movie trailer (below), we catch a glimpse of a Mercedes W124 Taxi and a 4x4 Mercedes ML-class, the latter of which gets hit by a train and blown up. Interesting.
But what's even more interesting is that fact that said chase in the Taxi scared the sh*t out of our hero. Why? According to Neeson: "We had a police presence but the shopkeepers and merchants in these tiny narrow streets wanted to keep their shops open. They had no problem with us shooting our film.
"There were customers crossing streets all the time who weren't extras, and we're barreling up these streets in Mercs at reckless speeds.
So there you have it. Taken 2's car chases are (very loosely) based on real life! Take a look at the official trailer and be sure to check it out on the big screens from Friday October 5.
