The Tesla Cybertruck Does 0-60mph In 2.9sec, Looks Like A Sci-Fi Film Prop
If you were scrolling through your Twitter feed today and wondered if you’d woken up in a parallel universe where DeLorean still exists, we wouldn’t blame you. What you’re looking at here is a Tesla Cybertruck, and it looks like a DMC had a baby with the Mars Rover.
It might look like it belongs in a sci-fi film, but Tesla CEO Elon Musk says that the vehicle is not far from being production-ready.
The body is made from “ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel,” and is supposedly strong enough to withstand 9mm rounds. Attempts to prove the Cybertruck’s hardiness at the reveal event didn’t go so well, however, with the company’s design chief managing to break two side windows with a metal ball. Oops.
There’s a 6.5-foot load bay - just like a Ford F-150 - in which you’ll find 2800 litres of storage space. It’s covered by a panel that’s able to slide to the ground behind the Cybertruck, making it easy to load something like an ATV into the back. Hashtaglifestyle.
It wouldn’t be a Tesla without some impressive stats, and sure enough, the Cybertruck has plenty of them. Even the entry-level single motor, rear-wheel drive one is fairly handy, with a claimed “250+” range, a 0-60mph time under 6.5 seconds and a towing capacity of 3400kg.
The mid-range dual-motor, all-wheel drive version will be able to go over 300 miles on a single charge, crack 60mph in around 4.5 seconds and haul up to 4500kg. Finally, the tri-motor Cybertruck will - Tesla says - have a range of over 500 miles, hit 60mph in 2.9 seconds and be happy towing 6300kg. No battery capacities have been quoted thus far.
It’ll be underpinned by air springs, which will give the Cybertruck a maximum ride height of 400mm.
In the cabin, there’s seating for six, and - of course - a massive ruddy tablet in the middle of the dashboard. We can guarantee the weird aviation-style yoke thing won’t make production.
Perhaps the most astonishing thing of all is the price for this bizarre slice of futurism - it’ll start at just $39,900, Tesla says, rising to $69,900 for the tri-motor version. The entry point won’t be here until 2021, though, and the range-topper is even further away - you’ll have to wait until 2022 for that.

This is how cars look like when they are out of the render distance in a video game
It looks directly out of Cyberpunk 2077 - even the font on Tesla’s official page for the car looks suspiciously like that game.

How will this pass pedestrian crash tests? 😂
Fck pedestrian safety, amirite?
2021 yeah right
I’m sorry but this is an insult to everyone.
What were they thinking? “We suck at making body panels fit so here’s a car with only 3 body panels!”
How does Tesla spend millions on design and end up with that, while some bloke ends up with this:

In this modern times where prices of everything has been inflated, trying to shape stainless steel is just a financial nightmare which I imagine is why they cut short it so hard. No wonder it looks like something from 1970s concept cars stuff 😆
If Tesla made that truck shown in your comments, they wouldn’t get many sales. The truck showed looks like any ordinary truck on sale today, like the F150. Plus the cybertruck is different, which I like very much.
It looks like that, not because it’s lazy, but because it’s overengineered.
They tried removing every part that needs special custom tools to make.
The lack of paint makes it cheaper to produce and also less prone to visible scratches (being an utility truck you are going to use offroad).
The extremely tough material and unibody is also needed to cut down the cost on extra parts like bumpers, side skirts, etc., parts that can also break when going offroad.
The aerodynamics are also insane, having a drag coefficient of ONLY 0.30. (Eclipse 2GA/2GB is at 0.28/0.29 for example.)
It’s so well thought out, that overdesigning it would have ruined the whole point of it.
I honestly like the design. It’s different. It’s still an EV tho.

Companys spend years to design a beautiful car and then theres this thing a kindergarden kid can make a better looking car than this ugly thing! A multipla looks way nicer!
