Tesla Managed To Make 5000 Model 3s Last Week

Last week, the Californian manufacturer produced 7000 cars in total, 5000 of which were Model 3s

After months of production line issues and questions about quality, Tesla has at last managed to hit a milestone with the Model 3, building 5000 examples of the electric BMW 3-series rival last week.

Including the Model S and X, 7000 cars were made in that time at the company’s facility in Freemont, California, with Model 3 production helped by an unusual additional assembly line housed in a giant tent which has been described as “semi-permanent”.

It’s crucial that Tesla sustains these kind of numbers to become a viable company. The firm lost cash at an alarming rate during the first quarter of 2018, and recently cut nine per cent of its workforce as it restructured in a bid to become profitable.

The Model 3’s production line has been hampered by a variety of setbacks including automation issues and problems with batteries. None of entry-level, $35,000 Model 3 have been built yet either, with the company focusing on higher-priced examples.

With Tesla holding 450,000 reservations for the Model 3, there’s still a long way to go until the backlog is cleared, but it’s looking like the company might have finally hit its breakthrough moment.

After 1 year, Multiple delays, horrible build quality and firing of 9% of its staff
And top it off with people giving up and refunding their orders!

It’s kinda like when you take your son to a bowling hall but then he injures himself and gets sent to hospital. But then afterwards he still enjoyed bowling.

Pretty much.

We still don’t know what the build quality is like. Given they’ve been able to suddenly produce 1000 a day for a whole week suggests its just as poor as before or worse.

As you also rightly stated, 25% of orders have been cancelled, which frees space on the production schedule. You’d be surprised what fewer cars on the schedule can do to ease the stress.

So far they sorted out the production issues and managed to go past 5.000 cars, but even if they manage that the amount of orders is surely overwelhelming…still it helps that some customers canceled their model 3 orders which removes a bit of financing for Tesla…although they “Stabilized” I can’t help but see them still on a uncertain future when it comes to what is ahead on financial stability…we will have to wait for more good news.

Besides…what if those 7k cars end up being 7k lemons?

But…I’m the only one that thinks Tesla needs elon to go and be half bought by an European car maker?
