Thanks To A Hacker, We Now Know There’s A Tesla Model S P100D On The Way
We’d just gotten used to the idea of the 90D with its 2.8 second 0-60mph time in Ludicrous Mode, but that’s not where it’ll end for the already bonkers fast top-of-the-line Model S. The next upgrade will come in the form of a 100kWh battery, adding more range and more poke to the electric saloon. The reason we know? It’s all thanks to a Tesla hacker called Jason Hughes.
He uncovered a ‘P100D’ badge graphic buried in a firmware update, confirming that a more powerful battery is indeed on the way to the Model S. Not the biggest surprise, since Elon Musk has previously stated that the car’s capacity will increase over time thanks to advances in battery technology.
Things took a curious turn, however, when Hughes claimed that Tesla was downgrading his own car’s firmware in a possible ‘retaliation’.
None other than Elon Musk responded to Hughes’ concerned Tweet, stating that it wasn’t something he’d requested, then appearing to praise the man’s skills by saying “good hacking is a gift.”
Strange Twitter exchanges aside, though, this all leaves us with one important question: will Tesla give the upgraded cars a new performance ‘mode’? And if it does, where do you go from ‘Ludicrous’? Bonkers? Absurd? Bats**t…? Let’s have your suggestions below…

After ludicrous mode it is the famous “VTEC”
Looks like a PR stunt to me

Well if Spaceballs is anything to go by I guess Tesla will go full plaid.
Hey Tesla, how about a car that’s actually fun to drive and not just fast?
Proceed the name like the Space Balls movie. What comes after Ludicrous? Maximum Plaid!!!
warp mode, obviously
“Ohm my god” mode.
Just one thing, what happened to the company is also possible on cars, petrol and hybrids included, it is possible to hack a car’s ECU and take control of the wheel, as long as it relies on circuitry rather than the engine, the type of car that can be disabled by an EMP, this all have been demonstrated on YT, including the part of changing the radio station, though, as long as your car doesn’t have cruise control, speed regulation can’t be done.
I am pretty disappointed… The car is clearly bigger than two “peel P50’s”
They should add a TWATT button, like the RS’s drift mode.
