There Are Supercharged Cars & Then There Is This Epic BMW E30 Screamer

BMW E30 with E36 2.5-litre engine swap. Oh, and a massive supercharger...

There's nothing quite like the sound of a forced induction engine. The Impreza's instantly recognisable flat-four and massive turbo combo takes some beating, but this supercharged BMW E30 blows that into the weeds.

In the video below we see some gratuitous 2nd gear donuts (fairly standard). What we hear in the video, however, is simply out of this world. Hit play and listen to the supercharger's crazy high pitched whine as the car's driver buries the throttle.

This is the rare occasion when supercharger screams dominate engine and tyre noise

Exactly how much power this E30 develops is unknown, but we do know that the standard engine has been replaced with the the next generation's (E36) 2.5-litre M50 unit, which is a very popular swap. Our guess would be somewhere around the 500bhp mark.
