There's A Ferrari SUV Coming, But Don't Call It An SUV
The Ferrari SUV will have ‘hidden’ rear doors and strictly won’t be called an SUV when it arrives in 2021, according to reports, as the Italian brand continues to attempt to divert speculation over the controversial future model using crafty phrasing.
Autocar quotes automotive analyst Max Warburton as saying that Ferrari’s comments apparently denying an SUV project exists are explained by semantics. The firm’s commercial chief Enrico Galliera said:
“We are not producing an SUV, because an SUV is not a sports car – it can be fast, but it’s not a sports car. We are not producing a four-door, because while a four-door can be fast it’s not a sports car.
“Ferrari has to remain consistent, doing what we know to do, which is delivering cars that are able to deliver emotion: sports cars.”
But Warburton claims that the company will get around these words by using a ‘clever hidden arrangement’ for the rear doors and arguing that its SUV, codenamed F16X, isn’t an SUV at all. It may even come up with an entirely new descriptor for it to try to dodge the SUV tag altogether. The term FUV has been mooted, to mean ‘Ferrari Utility Vehicle’.
Having been toying with the idea of an off-road model for a decade, Ferrari would like to sell around 2000-3000 per year targeting growing super-luxury markets like China. Rivals would include the Lamborghini Urus, plus the competitors from Rolls-Royce and Aston Martin. We’d expect it to eclipse the GTC4 Lusso as Ferrari’s most practical car.

The same can’t be said about the Formula 1 team
Kimi is consistently 4th.
It’s called a wagon lmfao
Shooting brake actually in this case, since it’s gonna be a three-door.
List of non SUV companys are decreasing everyday. R.I.P.
Now seriously what’s next? McLaren SUV? Pagani SUV? Koenigsegg SUV? Bugatti SUV? Aston Martin SUV?
[DELETED]
An Aston SUV is coming soon which is based on the DBX concept
Luckily Smart hasn’t made one…
Although they made a concept SUV…
Aston martin is manufacturing a suv named dbx and koenigsegg is manufacturing an everyday sedan
Pagani SUV?? Zasto ne?😁😁 IMO ovaj ferrari lepo izgleda hahah
Ferrari logic: We’ll put weird half doors in the back, then it’s not an SUV with weird doors, it’s an FUV!
Ferrari and Utility have no right to be in the same postcode, let alone in the same acronym.
THIS
But what about the GTC4Lusso? It’s got enough utility for a road trip.
If anything, “Ferrari” and “High ground clearance” should be banned.
Wow puts my new Jag FPace to shame? www.batteriesontheweb.co.uk
No
I swear Sergio Marchionne said that the only way Ferrari would make a SUV is over his dead body…
Well, we know what Ferrari have to do now…
I wouldn’t worry, let’s not forget what Lamborghini made…
As far as I know it all started as a project for the US army. As you know they said yes to the HMMWV and ditched the plans for the Lamborghini. The guys in Italy thought afterwards “hey, let’s give it a try” and this is how the LM002 went into production.
Lamborghini is coming back with an SUV, based on the platform for the Q8.
Long story short: As far as I don’t like SUV’s we should be thankful that they made them. It brings them money for awesome cars, just think about Porsche and their Cayenne.
A Ferrari SUV?
I’m saving this.
